Our 1 x 6 Pregrooved Ipê is milled with a precision groove on the bottom edge of each board, allowing it to accept hidden fastener clip systems (such as the Ipe Clip®) for a completely screw-free deck surface. If the clean, uninterrupted look of a hidden fastener deck is your goal, pregrooved boards are what you need.
What does pregrooved mean?
Pregrooved (sometimes written as PG) boards have a small routed channel along one or both bottom edges. Hidden fastener clips slide into this groove and are screwed to the joist below, holding each board in place without any visible hardware on the deck surface.

Note: Perimeter and border boards cannot use hidden fasteners on the outer edge — you’ll need 1×6 Eased Edge boards for the outer rows, or use plugged screws on those edges.
